English Language Requirements

English Requirements at The College, Swansea University

All students at The College, Swansea University will be required to demonstrate an appropriate level of English Language ability in order to join us for their studies. This can be done in a variety of ways depending on your location, education and employment history and more.

In most cases however, The College will require the completion of an appropriate English Language qualification. The College, Swansea University accepts a wide variety of English Language Qualifications.

The requirements of our Joint CAS programmes can be met with a wide variety of English language qualifications. A full list of these, as well as their IELTS equivalent scores, can be viewed here.

The requirements of our Single CAS programmes can only be met with an appropriate UKVI IELTS or PTE Academic UKVI Test.

The most widely available language qualification is the IELTS test. This being the case, the IELTS and UKVI IELTS score requirements fr each level of study are provided in the table below 

ELTS Programmes

If you have an English language condition to meet then you may wish to consider completing a period of study with the English Language Training Service. The ELTS team offer a variety of programmes aimed at aiding students with their English language ability. Successful completion of an ELTS pre-sessional programme will result in your English language condition being met, allowing you to begin your academic studies with us at The College, Swansea University.

Through a combination of the development of academic skills and your academic English language ability the ELTS programmes are an ideal route for students with a condition to meet or who are simply looking for some additional practice before the start of their degree programme.
