Experiential Learning Opportunities

Putting Theory Into Real-World Practice

We have a strong focus on experiential learning, which looks to put academic theory into real-world practice, enabling you to pick up key skills, through practice, that will be vitally important for your legal career.

This is done through Swansea's:

Law Clinic

Our award-winning Law Clinic offers opportunities, through a credit-bearing module, to work with real-life clients, offering initial advice on a range of issues, under supervision from a solicitor. The Clinic also works on several volunteering and charitable initiatives throughout the year.

Miscarriage of Justice Project

The Miscarriage of Justice project looks at unsafe convictions, working with members of the Swansea Law Clinic Team and the Inside Justice Charity, to explore new lines of enquiry and potentially overturn incorrect convictions based on new evidence.

Mooting

Through practice and competition, mooting gives you the opportunity to research and argue fictional legal problems. These are often done in front of a panel of judges, who will decide the winner. Our students have seen success on a local, national and international level.

Street Law

Street Law is a free legal education programme delivered to schools and community groups. It empowers people by informing them about the law, legal systems and human rights through the delivery of fun and interactive sessions, and is also available as a credit-bearing module.

Negotiations

This credit-bearing, workshop-based module is designed to developed negotiation skills based on the concept of Principled Negotiations, in accordance with the Harvard Business School Model. Students will participate in weekly negotiations covering a range of topics.
