If you are a health care professional undertaking work-based learning and practice development you can gain academic credit for your learning through our Higher Education Diploma in Enhanced Professional Practice.
You will be joining a university that is 8th in the UK for teaching quality and 6th for career prospects (What Uni 2023).
The diploma will be delivered using blended learning including work-based learning and attendance at taught modules if you choose.
The first module ‘Starting Your Practice Development’ will comprise taught days in the College. Subsequent modules will either be existing taught modules from the College's Postgraduate and Continuing Professional Development prospectus with established assessment methods or work-based modules which will be assessed by portfolio. For the work-based modules students will, in conjunction with a practice facilitator and personal tutor, develop learning contracts which will be aimed at meeting the learning requirements for the module and practice development needs in their practice areas.
Within this programme, you will be responsible for the organisation and recognition of your own learning, be it work-based learning modules or traditional Continuing Personal and Professional Development (CPPD) modules, with the support of their facilitator and personal tutor.
You will utilise self-directed learning approaches but can, if appropriate, access some formal teaching offered by your employer or the College of Human and Health Sciences, Swansea University. Students will be registered with the University so will be able to access all learning resources available to students of the University. E-learning will be used when appropriate, although a dedicated blackboard site will be established.
This course will give you academic credit for a topic relevant to your work place which will help your long term career prospects.
