You can study specialist marketing topics such as consumer behaviour, marketing communications, marketing research, marketing metrics and global marketing.

The BSc Business Management degree at Swansea University is the most established programme within the School of Management, known for producing highly skilled and commercial thinking business managers. Your Business Management (Marketing) Experience

Business Management (Marketing) at Swansea is a flexible degree giving you the chance to study abroad for a year, or work in industry for a year. This can give you a real competitive advantage and broaden your horizons when it comes to seeking employment.

Our broad selection of optional modules from the second and third years allows you to shape the degree towards your specific career goals.

Covering the foundation of business and management, this course also focuses on how customers and businesses interact in a global marketplace, allowing you to pursue specialist topics such as consumer behaviour, marketing communications, marketing research, marketing metrics and global marketing.

How You're Taught

We are proud to provide an outstanding educational experience, using the most effective learning and teaching approaches, carefully tailored to suit the specific needs of your course. Apart from a small number of online-only courses, most of our courses consist of in-person, on-campus teaching, enabling full engagement with your lecturers and fellow students.

Practical skills sessions, lab work seminars, and workshops predominantly take place in person, allowing for group working and demonstrations. We also operate virtual labs and Simulated Learning Environments which will facilitate greater access to training opportunities in the future. However, our approach also includes the use of some online learning to support and enhance traditional face-to-face teaching.

Online learning may take place ‘live’ using software such as Zoom, allowing you to interact with the lecturer and other students and to ask questions. Lecture recordings also allow for more flexibility to revisit material, to revise for assessments and to enhance learning outside of the classroom. Some modules have extra resources in Canvas, such as videos, slides and quizzes enabling further flexible study.

This course may offer some modules taught through the medium of Welsh or bilingually for students who consider themselves to be fluent Welsh speakers. For more details on the provision available see the Welsh Provision expander below.

Professional Body Accreditation

Our BSc Business Management (Marketing) degree at Swansea University is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM)*.

This course is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Accredited Degree programme and provides students with two exemptions from a core module towards the CIM Level 4 Certificate in Professional Marketing or one exemption from a core module towards the CIM Level 6 Diploma in Professional Marketing*.

To claim the exemptions students will need to register as a CIM member within 3 years of graduating and then have up to 5 years from graduating to complete the additional module(s) to gain the full qualification. A list of exempt modules and further information can be found on the CIM Accredited Degree website.

The School of Management also offers a Developing Futures Scholarship for international undergraduate students who have an offer to study at the School of Management. The scholarship is to the value of up to £2,000 for one academic year, which is automatically deducted from tuition fees.

The scholarship package encourages students to develop a number of professional skills whilst working with the School throughout the academic year.

Year in Industry

This course offers you the opportunity to spend a Year In Industry, in the UK or overseas*, giving valuable workplace experience. The University advocates for only paid placements which on average have a salary of over £20,000. Unpaid placements are considered on a case-by-case basis.

Although securing a placement is the responsibility of the student, we work with a number of organisations who provide a range of placement opportunities. Students are also supported throughout their application journey with advice, guidance and additional resources. If you are unable to secure a placement by the end of the second year of your studies, you will transfer onto the equivalent degree programme.
