The BSc Global Business Management (Top Up) offers an exciting opportunity for students seeking a dynamic and contemporary education in business and management. This innovative programme focuses on the in-depth exploration of organisations, their management strategies, and impacts from the ever-evolving external environments, on a global scale.  It is designed for students from a range of backgrounds to learn with, and from, each other.

If you are an international student and you have already undertaken two years of an undergraduate degree in a related discipline or hold an equivalent qualification such as a Higher National Diploma (HND) then you can study this top up course to gain a bachelor’s degree.

Our curriculum emphasises a range of strategic leadership and management perspectives, ensuring that students understand subject matter within the context of the global landscape. Contemporary issues such as ethics, corporate social responsibility (CSR), sustainability, entrepreneurship, innovation, and digital communication/ marketing are at the core of our teaching. 

As well as developing an understanding of academic and professional skills, topics likely to be covered include understanding the importance of project and innovation management in business, developing the skills for effective leadership and implementing strategies to encourage organisational success in different climates.

Global Business Management (Top Up) Employment Opportunities

There is a need for those in the business world to understand entrepreneurial and creative approaches to business whilst ensuring policies, regulations, and ethics, from a management and marketing standpoint.

Entry Requirements

Applicants will typically have studied a Foundation Degree, HND or equivalent, in a subject allied to business and/or management. Students will be admitted on the basis of recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

As a guideline, below are examples of the overall grades we would typically accept, subject to a match in prior study:

  • SQA - Grade B classification overall
  • HND - Merit
  • Associate Degree GPA 3.0 or 75%
  • Dazhuan - 75%


English Language
Non-native English speakers must achieve 6.0 overall with no component less than 5.5 in IELTS or equivalent tests.

For students who fall short of only the English language requirement we offer a range of pre-sessional training programmes that you may take before starting your degree programme

How You're Taught

We are proud to provide an outstanding educational experience, using the most effective learning and teaching approaches, carefully tailored to suit the specific needs of your course. Our courses consist of in-person, on-campus teaching, enabling full engagement with your lecturers and fellow students.

Practical skills session sand workshops allow for group working and demonstrations.  Our approach may also include the use of some online learning to support and enhance traditional face-to-face teaching.

Lecture recordings allow for more flexibility to revisit material, to revise for assessments and to enhance learning outside of the classroom. Some modules have extra resources in Canvas, such as videos, slides and quizzes enabling further flexible study.

This course may offer some modules taught through the medium of Welsh or bilingually for students who consider themselves to be fluent Welsh speakers. For more details on the provision available see the Welsh Provision expander below.

No Provision

Unfortunately, there is currently no formal Welsh-medium provision on this course. If you would like to let us know that you are interested in pursuing an element of your course through the medium of Welsh, please email astudio@abertawe.ac.uk to indicate your interest along with your year of entry and we will do our best to see what is possible.

Whilst this course does not offer academic content delivered in Welsh, the University can provide you with the following, and Academi Hywel Teifi is here to support you:

  • An interview through the medium of Welsh when applying for a place.
  • The option to receive your personal correspondence in Welsh, English or bilingually.
  • The option to write and submit your coursework or exams through the medium of Welsh (even if you have chosen to study in English), and your work will be marked in Welsh.

  • One-to-one support to improve your academic Welsh language skills.
  • An opportunity to gain an additional free qualification that serves as evidence of your Welsh language ability for future employers.

Academi Hywel Teifi at Swansea University and the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol offer a number of generous scholarships and bursaries for students who wish to study through the medium of Welsh or bilingually. The School of Management also offers a Developing Futures Scholarship for international undergraduate students who have an offer to study at the School of Management. The scholarship is to the value of up to £2,000 for one academic year, which is automatically deducted from tuition fees.

The scholarship package encourages students to develop a number of professional skills whilst working with the School throughout the academic year.

 

Additional Costs

Access to your own digital device/the appropriate IT kit will be essential during your time studying at Swansea University. Access to wifi in your accommodation will also be essential to allow you to fully engage with your programme. Spaces are limited and subject to a competitive selection process. In the event you do not secure a semester/year abroad placement, you will be transferred to the standard variant of your degree scheme without a semester or year abroad.
