Undergraduate application process

If you are applying for a full-time undergraduate degree, you must do this through UCAS, the Universities Colleges and Admissions Service. You should also use UCAS if you want to transfer from one university to another.

Remember:

• You can apply online at ucas.com
• Our UCAS institution name and code is SWAN S93
• The campus code can be left blank.
• The application deadline for courses starting in 2026 is 14th January 2026 at 18:00, although we will consider applications after this date for the vast majority of programmes.

You will find entry requirements on our course pages. We accept a wide range of qualifications, some of which might not be listed on the course page. If you're in any doubt, please contact the Admissions Office to check.

We are happy to consider applications for deferred entry for the majority of undergraduate programmes. There are some exceptions, particularly for more competitive courses, such as Graduate Entry Medicine.

For all other courses you can apply via UCAS for a course beginning the following year, or can ask for deferred entry during the application cycle.

If you will be under the age of 18 at the time of admission, we have a duty of care that requires certain legal procedures to be fulfilled. Please note that, in some instances, the course content may not be suitable for those under 18, meaning we may not be able to make you an offer.

Should you plan to start at Swansea University before your 18th birthday, you and your parent/guardian will need to sign a declaration. Formal clearance to study your chosen course must also be issued by the University before you turn 18. We will send you an email with the detailed requirements once you have submitted your application.

There is no upper age limit, although we have a responsibility to ensure that the investment made by public funds for NHS training on certain courses is realised in terms of length of potential service within the health service after graduation.

We welcome your application whether or not you are coming directly from school or college – it may be that you want to return to education at a later stage of your life, which many people choose to do when the time is right for them.

We may ask you to provide additional information like transcripts, an academic reference (if not already supplied) or information on alternative qualifications that you may have. When supplying this information, be sure to include your UCAS Personal Identification Number and the course(s) you have applied for.

If you want to send further information about a change in circumstances, a change in academic qualifications, or details of exceptional circumstances that may affect your application, you should always include your Personal Identification Number and course details.

We will consider applications for second year entry on a case-by-case basis for most programmes, if places are available.

If you wish to apply for second-year entry, it is important you provide as much information to us up front as you can. Typically, if you are transferring from another university, we'll need to see details of all modules you're taking at your current university. This is so that we can ensure that you're able to progress smoothly into our second year.

If you have a disability, medical condition, or a specific learning difficulty, we will contact you after you have applied, so we can be sure that we can give you the support you need throughout your studies.

We are absolutely committed to equal opportunities for all, and any condition that you notify us of will not affect your ability to attend university, we simply ask so we can provide you with the appropriate level of support.

Students are asked to disclose convictions in accordance with our Criminal Convictions Policy. Students that are not studying on regulated courses involving working with children and/or vulnerable adults will only be asked to provide details or relevant unspent convictions. This information will only be requested after an offer is made.

We hold a number of Open Days throughout the year and we encourage everyone to visit! These are the best way to experience the university firsthand, allowing you to get a real feel for like at Swansea, and whether it is right for you.

If you are unable to visit one of the set days, you are also welcome to visit the University independently at any time, as access to the University is not restricted. A self-guided tour pack is available, please email the Student Recruitment Office to request one.

The fees charged for study at Swansea University fall broadly into two categories:

• Home
• International

Only certain categories of students will be charged the home fee. Fee status depends on several factors; including nationality, immigration status and residence history.

Living in the UK for three years does not, on its own, mean that you will become eligible for 'home' fees.

If you are still unsure which fee category you are in, we'd encourage you to submit a full application. We'll use the information provided on this application to complete a full fee assessment. In some instances, we may need to contact you for further information to help us establish this.

Yes! Swansea University offers various scholarships for academic and sporting achievement, as well as many specific departmental scholarships.

If you aren't happy with our offer, or you feel it is not attainable, please contact us. We are happy to discuss offers with applicants after they are made and welcome the opportunity to give extra consideration to any additional circumstances not disclosed on your initial application for example.
