Two years ago, the School of Law at Swansea entered into an agreement with Bloomfield Law Practice to launch an annual Prize and internship opportunity for the best Nigerian LLM student in the realm of commercial, maritime and oil and gas law.
This year, the Prize goes to Dennis Ikeke Azeke, originally from Edo State. Dennis is a graduate of the University of Lagos Law Faculty and is enrolled on our LLM in International Maritime Law. He is currently on course to complete his LLM with a distinction. The Prize was presented to Dennis at a Zoom meeting (as is the norm this year!) by representatives of Bloomfield Law Practice: Ms Funbi Matthews, Mr Adedoyin Afun, and Mr Michael Abiiba.
Established in 2007, Bloomfield Law Practice has quickly acquired a well-earned reputation as an elite law firm specialising in maritime and commercial law, which offers high quality legal services to clients from all around the world. Mr Afun, who also holds a Swansea LLM degree, is the Chair of the firm's Aviation & Logistics and Shipping & Oil Services Practice Groups. During the ceremony, Mr Afun praised the legal education offered at Swansea and indicated that Dennis will be offered an internship at their Lagos office shadowing several partners from November onwards.
On behalf of the School, Dr Iwobi, a Senior Lecturer, thanked Bloomfield Law Practice for initiating this prestigious prize and said that the School values our association with such a reputable Nigerian law firm. Dr Iwobi also commended Dennis for his excellent performance in all of his LLM modules and assured him that he would benefit immensely from his internship at Bloomfield.
