MA Cyber Crime and Terrorism student and Law graduate, Laurence Cooper, has landed a role as a Cyber Security Compliance Analyst at BAE System Plc, a British multinational arms, security, and aerospace company, based in London.
BAE Systems were one of the main sponsors of the Cyber 9/12 Strategy Challenge, which is a cyber policy and strategy competition that sees students compete to develop policies and analyse that tackle a fictional cyber catastrophe.
Laurence was recently part of the Swansea University Team that finished in the Top 10 at the 2023 edition of the Competition, also picking up the Best Teamwork Prize.
As a result of connections made at the Competition, and the strength of his performance, Laurence was invited to interview for the prominent position at BAE, and was ultimately successful in this endeavour, and will be taking up his role shortly after completing his master’s.
Speaking of his appointment, Laurence had the following to say:
“I have always had an interest in computer science, and I can’t wait to bring together my legal background and cyber skills in my dream job at BAE systems. The opportunities available on the Cybercrime and Terrorism MA have had an incredible impact on my career and I look forward to working in the exciting, fast developing and vitally important cybersecurity industry.”
