The Institute of International Shipping & Trade Law (IISTL) enjoys close relationships with several international law firms. HFW, a world-renowned international commercial law firm, is one of those firms and a very important partner.
Each year, several lawyers from the firm contribute to the delivery of Swansea’s LLM programmes, and for over half a decade the firm has provided students with three separate prizes, to reflect the diversity of their shipping and commercial work.
This year’s worthy recipients were three of Swansea’s best, each scoring the top mark in their respective modules:
- Mr Arjun Mital was the winner for the HFW prize in Oil and Gas Law
- Mr Ehsan Sarkhosh for the HFW prize in Carriage of Goods, and
- Mr Christian Schamer for the HFW prize in Admiralty Law.
The Prizes were awarded in London by Richard Neylon who is a Swansea graduate and Partner at HFW. The prize winners were accompanied by Professor George Leloudas and Dr Tabetha Kurtz-Shefford to the Prize ceremony.
Speaking after the event, Professor Leloudas said:
“We offer our heartiest congratulations to our students and thank HFW for their very valued and continuing support. They are doing a terrific job by investing in the future generation of maritime, shipping and energy lawyers and we are delighted that our fruitful corporation has been continuing for almost a decade now. As we often say at Swansea, onwards and upwards!”
