Healthcare Careers Open Day

Our Healthcare Careers Open Day is designed to give you a deeper insight into studying Medicine and Healthcare at university. As well as everything you would expect from a traditional Open Day, including campus and accommodation tours, you'll have the opportunity to explore your chosen profession in more detail.

The day will include subject-specific talks, information on our NHS-funded programmes, and guidance on our Pathways to Medicine undergraduate degrees.

An Alternative Route to Becoming a Doctor

If you are interested in becoming a Doctor and studying Medicine at Swansea, our Pathways to Medicine courses could be the option for you. Our Pathways to Medicine will give students who meet the minimum entry requirements for our Graduate Entry Medicine programme a guaranteed interview to study our Medicine program and become a Doctor. 

Whether you want to have a passion for life science which you would like to pursue, do not have the correct A level mix, or have not been able to secure an interview for undergraduate Medicine our Pathways to Medicine may be the right fit for you.

Fully funded degrees

Healthcare Science Practitioners play a vital role in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of a huge number of medical conditions, working alongside doctors, nurses and other health professionals. If you are passionate about science and technology, and thrive on helping others, our Healthcare Sciences Degrees are funded by the NHS Wales Bursary Scheme and could be for you.

If you are interested in becoming a Midwife, our Midwifery course is funded by the NHS Wales Bursary Scheme. Our Midwifery degree will equip you with the knowledge, skills and understanding to support mothers with pregnancy, birth and their new baby.

Nursing is a profession for those with a passion for helping and supporting others in their time of need. If you are interested in joining the next Generation of NHS Wales Nurses, our Nursing Degrees are funded by NHS Wales.

Occupational Therapists empower people to develop, maintain or improve a diverse range of activities that are relevant and meaningful in their daily lives, from basic self-care at home to work-related activities, hobbies and more.

Operating Department Practitioners provide skilled and holistic care and support to patients at all stages of an operation, from anaesthetics, throughout surgery and into recovery.  They play a critical role in the hospital’s ability to carry out surgery as they also work as part of the surgery team and link this team to other teams and departments in the hospital.
