The MSc Advanced Management (Healthcare Technologies) has been designed to meet the growing global demand for leadership, innovation and strategic management skills within the life sciences and biotechnology sectors.

Open to professionals from sectors including health and social care, sport, life sciences, and bio-engineering, the portfolio enables you to develop the advanced management and leadership capabilities needed to create sustainable value and deliver transformative outcomes.

This is an interdisciplinary programme, and as such will be taught on a dual campus basis, across both the Bay and Singleton Campuses.

Your Advanced Management (Healthcare Technologies) MSc Experience

This part-time programme is run over two years, beginning with core MBA modules in Year 1 and progressing to specialist life sciences and innovation content in Year 2.

Our innovative programme combines insights from management, R&D strategy, entrepreneurship, and translational science with a strong emphasis on real-world application. You will engage with the challenges of moving from “bench to build and “lab to life”, exploring how science, policy, and enterprise intersect to drive innovation in health, biotech, and life sciences industries. Through case studies, live projects, and collaborative learning, you can develop both the strategic perspective and operational acumen required to lead in this fast-moving sector.

The programme is structured into three 60-credit segments. The first introduces core MBA-level modules that establish a foundation in strategy, leadership, and change management, and are shared across the MSc Advanced Management pathways, to foster cross-sector learning.

The second 60-credit segment comprises specialist modules that develop sector-specific expertise in life sciences innovation and R,D&I management.

The final 60-credit segment focuses on a substantial, applied research or consultancy project, through the Research in Practice module. This serves as the capstone, where you will design and deliver a project that is aligned with real-world challenges across the life sciences and innovation landscape. This final project ensures integration of theory and practice, enabling you to address real organisational challenges that you can apply to your current workplace or your future career.
