Best-selling children’s author David Walliams has given his support to a children’s competition being held to mark Swansea University’s centenary.
The comedian and writer has sent a special good luck message to everyone taking part in the University of the Future competition
The competition is asking children to share their vision of how Swansea University would look in another 100 years.
There are three categories:
Key Stage 1 (Years 1 & 2) pupils are invited to draw a picture of the University in 100 years’ time.
Key Stage 2 (Years 3,4,5 & 6) pupils need write a short story or a poem describing their idea for the University of the Future, in no more than 100 words.
Key Stages 3 & 4 (Years 7,8,9,10 & 11) pupils the challenge is to think about how they could bring the future to life through video, animation or a computer model.
The winning picture of the Key Stage 1 section will be brought to life in a short-animated film featuring the winning story from the Key Stage 2 competition and, along with the winners of the Key Stage 3 & 4 section, this will be posted on the University’s website as part of its Centenary celebrations.
David, who has sold more than 35 million books worldwide, said he was delighted to be involved with competition.
In a specially recorded message he said: “I want to encourage all of you to get writing. Good luck everybody!”
