Swansea University has joined the prestigious Turing University Network in recognition of its research and teaching in the field of AI and data science.
Swansea is one of 29 institutions that have recently been admitted by The Alan Turing Institute, taking the total number of universities in the network to 65.
The Turing University Network offers UK universities the opportunity to engage and collaborate both with the Institute and its broader networks in academia, industry, and the public sector.
It will also connect universities across the data science and AI ecosystem, provide access to bespoke network activity and encourage collaborations as opportunities arise.
Swansea University Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation Professor Helen Griffiths, said: “We are delighted to join this fantastic initiative; the Turing University Network provides excellent opportunities for greater engagement and collaboration at a national level, and we are pleased that our unique expertise in the area of modelling, data and AI has been recognised.”
The network first launched as a pilot in April 2023 with 36 universities from the Turing’s university partners and Turing Network Development Award recipients. An open call for new members was then launched in early summer 2023.
It is a key component of The Alan Turing Institute’s strategy and supports members in achieving its three ambitious goals: advance world-class research and apply it to national and global challenges, build skills for the future, and drive an informed public conversation.
