Professor Davies is a graduate of Swansea University, and has worked at Cardiff University School of Social Sciences and more recently at Aberystwyth University School of Education where he held a number of leadership positions including as an Institute Director of Research and Head of School.
He has worked in the field of professional learning for teachers for over a decade, and is committed to working with researchers and practitioners to build capacity and foster collaboration.
He said, ‘It’s a privilege for me to lead the Centre and to build on the excellent work undertaken by Dr Russell Grigg and a number of colleagues since its establishment. I want the Centre to continue its development as a powerhouse for educational research and as a focal point for ongoing dialogue between research and practice’.
Professor Davies’ first task in post was to organise the annual Centre for Research into Practice Conference, which took place on 21 May 2024. The Conference saw over 120 delegates come together to discuss their work and share insight on the theme of '‘Making a Difference’: Creating Impact Through Research and Enquiry’.
