Cam, the sports officer, at a Charity event in October

Here’s the latest update on all things sport from Cam, your Sports Officer!

Cam has had an action-packed first term, overseeing the activities of Swansea University’s 56 sports clubs while serving as a crucial link between the Students’ Union and Sport Swansea. Working collaboratively on a variety of initiatives, including preparations for the much-anticipated Welsh Varsity, Cam is dedicated to elevating the student sporting experience at all levels—whether you’re part of a recreational club or a high-performance athlete.

This year, Cam is focused on how sport and physical activity can enhance your time at university. With a commitment to delivering a first-class sporting experience, he’s already hit the ground running. Among his notable achievements last term, Cam successfully:

  • Ran a Ladies’ Day event to raise awareness for breast cancer.
  • Delivered Black Ribbon Week in support of the “Violence Against Women” cause.
  • Organised a triple-headline event to highlight Movember and its focus on men’s health.

These initiatives, combined with Cam’s ongoing work, have made a tangible impact, increasing awareness of club sports across the university and inspiring a wave of charitable fundraising efforts led by our clubs.

What’s Coming Up Next?
With another busy term ahead, Cam has plenty of exciting projects on the horizon.

  • Welsh Varsity: Taking place on April 9th, Swansea will take on Cardiff University in an epic showdown for the Varsity Shield. Cam is working closely with Cardiff’s Athletic Union to ensure this year’s event in Cardiff is unforgettable.
  • Charity Campaigns and Events: Cam aims to continue addressing important issues in student life through creative and impactful campaigns.
  • Club Support and Funding: Ensuring that all clubs have the resources they need to deliver exceptional sporting experiences across the board.

Cam’s dedication to developing sport at Swansea has been inspiring, and we’re excited to see what he accomplishes in the coming months.
