Dr. Anwar Ali received his M.S. in Electronic Engineering and Ph.D. in Electronic and Communication Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, Italy, in 2010 and 2014, respectively. He is currently a Lecturer in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at Swansea University’s Bay Campus in the United Kingdom.

Dr. Anwar’s research interests includes power electronic converters, embedded systems, analog and mixed-signal circuit design, satellite technologies including power management, attitude determination and attitude control systems, and thermal modeling and analysis of aerospace systems.

He has authored over 50 research papers in leading international journals and conferences and has led five research projects as Principal Investigator. He has also contributed to numerous other projects as a team member.

Taught Modules

EG-252 Group Design Exercise

The module is intended to reinforce aspects of Engineering Applications (EA1) and develop EA2. Advanced features of microcontroller operation are introduced, including interrupts and programming of features of the selected microcontroller. Extended experimental work is carried out as a Group Design Exercise. Practice in using technical IT packages including microcontroller software development and the use of design aids such as PCBs and engineering drawing is inherent. Development of project documentation through a web-site. Concepts of engineering ethics introduced in first year are developed through a formal lecture, and examined as part of the presentation in the final assessment.
EG-3082 Embedded Systems

The Embedded System course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of Raspberry Pi, and its programming capabilities using the Python programming language. Through a combination of theoretical concepts and hands-on laboratory experiments, students will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop and implement their own Raspberry Pi projects using Python.
EG-319 Integrated Circuit Design

To provide an overview of the BiCMOS and CMOS technologies and the concepts of designing analog and digital integrated circuits in the context of CMOS technology.
