About

Miriam’s expertise is Welsh-language science fiction, with a keen interest in exploring the relationship between society and technology in minority and minoritized language communities. She is currently working on her first monograph, Hiraeth Amhosibl: Ffuglen Wyddonol y Gymraeg with the University of Wales Press.

Her broader interests include contemporary literature and the publishing industry in Wales generally, specifically encouraging young people and Welsh learners to engage with literature and creative writing. A writer herself, Miriam was part of establishing Y Stamp magazing in 2016, providing a space to nurture and promote new and emerging writers. Miriam reached the shortlist of Crime Cymru’s First Novel competition in 2022, and continues to write and publish her creative writing alongside her academic work.

Miriam was also one of the judges for Literature Wales' Welsh Book of the Year award in 2025.
