Why Swansea?
Swansea University was incredibly supportive during the clearing process, addressing all my concerns and questions, especially since I was transferring from another university. I was drawn to the beautiful location and the modern facilities at the Bay Campus. Most importantly, the staff's efforts to know me as a student, rather than just a number, made a significant impact. The connections I have made with fellow students and staff have greatly boosted my confidence and expanded my career perspectives. I also love the sense of community in Swansea, with its numerous independent coffee shops and unique shopping spots.

Did you apply through Clearing?
Yes, and as I mentioned, Swansea was an excellent choice for clearing. Despite my course being smaller compared to other engineering degrees, the university was dedicated to answering calls and emails promptly. They were incredibly helpful during my transfer process, even providing advice on student finance, which helped ease my transition and reassure me that I had made the right decision.

Are you/have you been part of a society?
Yes, I joined the dance society in my second year. It was a wonderful opportunity to meet new people and try new things. Although I had danced when I was younger, the inclusive environment allowed me to explore different styles without needing prior experience.

Have you lived in halls during your studies?
I highly recommend living in halls, especially during your first year. The halls of residence are designed to be social, with flatmates just meters away and other flats nearby. It’s a perfect place to meet new people and step out of your comfort zone while still having the privacy of your room. Communal living helps build character, independence, and social skills.

Have you worked part-time during your degree?
Yes, I worked as a bartender on Wind Street during my first and second years. Balancing work, studies, and social life was a good learning experience. Although I eventually had to leave the job due to the late hours conflicting with early lectures, it helped me connect with the local community beyond the university.

Have you accessed student support at Swansea University?
Yes, I've used the counselling service, osteopath, and GP at Swansea. All services were excellent, with the GP providing a familiar experience similar to my one at home. The counselling and osteopathy services were easily accessible, and the staff went the extra mile to ensure I felt heard and comfortable, which was especially important in the context of counselling.
