Why did you choose to study at Swansea University?

The university has good rankings and is in a safe, relatively small city where almost everyone around you is a student. Plus, it's on the beach which makes it unique. It is also one of the highest student satisfaction universities in the UK.

What influenced your decision to study in the UK, and specifically in Swansea?

As an international student, I was mainly looking at prices and scholarships while also making sure I was getting what I paid for education-wise. I know studying in the UK provides people with more job opportunities than people who study in my home country. Even though it’s much harder, I believe the reason for that is the reputation of the level of education in the UK.

How have you found the social life at Swansea University?

I was a bit confused at first and felt lonely but then I started meeting more and more people and my social circle expanded a lot in my second semester. The societies I have joined were the Arabic Society and the Islamic Society.

How has your experience been adapting to the differences between your home country and the UK?

Although it's very different I don't believe adapting is so hard. From my observation, I find the people here quite nice and everyone wants to talk and get to know each other on the streets.

How would you describe your experience living in Swansea?

Swansea is basically a small student city, everywhere I go I see familiar faces or friends, I believe that gives me a sense of community that a big city wouldn't. Although it's small there are lots of things that I am excited to do next year.

What advice would you give to other students considering studying at Swansea University?

Have fun and make as many connections as you can in your first year and try to find a friend group and get involved because people actually want to make friends so be as extroverted as possible.
