This module provides an introduction to the fundamental principles of general relativity and cosmology. It begins with a concise review of special relativity before moving on to the core concepts of general relativity, including the equivalence principle, the geometry of curved spacetime, and how distances are measured in such geometries. Students will learn how Einstein¿s field equations are formulated and how they describe a range of physical phenomena, from black holes to the dynamics of expanding spacetimes. The cosmology portion of the course focuses on the large-scale structure and evolution of the universe, covering the Friedmann equations, the dynamics of cosmic expansion, and the standard cosmological model.
