Don't Panic - we are here to help with the Clearing process

Clearing is often a stressful time for students, but it can often be just as hard on parents and guardians, who want to support their loved one. At Swansea, we want to make the process as clear and easy as possible.

You can trust us to take your child where they want to go, as we help them to build new skills and create lifelong connections.

We know you want the best for your child. That’s why we're committed to supporting you both at every step of the way. Our Parents and Guardians Guide to Clearing covers everything you need to know, from applying for courses, to campus visits and accepting offers.

What is Clearing?

Clearing is the final stage of the yearly higher education recruitment process. Your child may wish to enter Clearing if:

  • They have changed their mind about the university at which they wish to study
  • They want to change to another course
  • They haven’t quite achieved the grades they were expecting
  • They have achieved better grades than expected
  • They haven't applied to go to university but have decided that they want to go in September

Clearing opens on 2nd July 2026 and your child will be eligible to apply if they are not holding any offers at that point. Prospective students can also apply if they do not hold a place after their exam results are published.

Whatever the situation, Clearing can be an opportunity to secure a university place that is just right for your child! Their bright future starts at Swansea.

Your child can register for Clearing updates below to be the first to know about our clearing vacancies, events, hints, tips, and reminders to secure their place.
