Key Information

Medium sized firms are a vital population of employers in the UK, contributing to their communities and providing vital services and products in their localities.

However, these firms are largely missing from the research corpus. Assumptions by policy makers are that Welsh businesses lack ambition, leadership skills, networks and resources to successfully grow – and that any firms that are ‘successful’ are instantly bought up by larger English or overseas firms (OSSW. 2023). However, the data to back this up is anecdotal at best.

The supervisors are interested in receiving proposals that will examinine for the first time, the actual growth trajectories of firms in Wales with a significant sample of founders, leaders and Directors of Boards. We seek innovative proposals that will add unique contributions to this project.

We will not review any proposals that are AI generated
