Swansea University has been ranked 36th in the world for its contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), according to the latest Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, published on 18 June 2025.

Now in its seventh year, the THE Impact Rankings assess how universities worldwide are addressing the UN’s 17 SDGs—measuring performance across four key areas: research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching.

Swansea achieved an impressive overall score of 93.8 out of 100, placing it firmly in the global top 40 out of 2,318 institutions. Within the UK, Swansea is ranked 5th.

The rankings highlight how universities are tackling global challenges such as environmental sustainability, social inclusion, economic development, and international collaboration.

Swansea participated in six of the 17 SDGs and achieved the following standout results:

SDG12: Responsible Consumption and Production – 2nd (up 7 places)

SDG15: Life on Land – Joint 15th (up 4 places)

SDG16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions – Joint 22nd (up 4 places)

SDG17: Partnerships for the Goals – 71st (up from 101–200)

SDG11: Sustainable Cities and Communities – Joint 51st

SDG3: Good Health and Wellbeing – Joint 56th
