What are your top 3 favourite things about Swansea (the city/area)?
I love the parks and scenery, especially during spring and summer when the flowers are in bloom. I enjoy the Gower’s versatility, offering various activities depending on seasons. I love the marina for its views of the boats and the opportunity for lovely walks along the beach.
Why did you choose to study your degree at Swansea?
I chose Swansea University because its BSc Economics and Finance degree has an excellent reputation with strong rankings and graduates who work for top companies like HSBC and PwC. I was particularly drawn to the wide variety of interesting modules, especially in the final year, which meant that I could tailor my studies. Swansea also uniquely offered Economics and Finance combined as a single degree. Furthermore, I was keen on the year in industry option, as it provided valuable real-world work experience.
What is your favourite thing about your course?
My course allows me to explore the practical applications of Economics across different countries. My enthusiasm extends to working with numbers, where I enjoy unravelling the complexities and diverse challenges within the broad field of Finance.
What are you planning to do after you graduate?
After graduating, I plan to pursue a graduate job, potentially in London, with an aim to work towards a career in motorsport and finance. My long-term aspirations include gaining financial qualifications and potentially undertaking further study, with the ultimate goal of starting my own business and becoming a CEO.
Would you recommend Swansea University to other students? Why?
Yes, because of the multiple opportunities for practical experience through year in industry and internships is a significant advantage. The academic quality is excellent, particularly for courses like Economics and Finance. Finally, the location and overall student experience are truly exceptional as Swansea is a beautiful city, and the university provides a vibrant student life with numerous clubs and societies allowing students to continue hobbies and develop new interests.
Do you participate in a Swansea University sports team, club and/or society?
Yes, I participated in the Dance Society for four years and was the Events Co-Ordinator for Swansea University Investments and Finance Society.
Have you undertaken a work placement as part of your course (Year in Industry)?
Yes, I worked as the Employability and Placements Assistant for Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Swansea University.
Have you worked part-time during your degree?
Yes, I worked part-time jobs as a student ambassador, waitress and receptionist during my degree.
Have you accessed student support at Swansea University?
Yes, I contacted student support for multiple enquiries and was able to get the support required.
If relevant, what facilities have you enjoyed using as part of your course and why?
I enjoyed using the library on Bay Campus because of its facilities and its ocean views which created a calm and peaceful study environment. I also enjoyed using the dance society facilities.
Did you join Swansea University through Clearing. If yes – what was your experience of joining your course through Clearing?
Yes, I did, I had a really positive experience with Swansea University. The staff member that I had spoken to was really helpful and polite. I was able to study the course that I had wanted to and was happy with the outcome. Once I had the offer, the university made sure that I had the necessary information going forward.
