What are your top 3 favourite things about Swansea (the city/area)?

  1. Nature
  2. The warmth of the people
  3. The community

Why did you choose to study your degree at Swansea?

Suriname is just now developing offshore oil deposits, and because of this I decided to dive into the sector and set myself apart based on expertise within the industry. From there on, I started looking at universities and the courses on Oil & Gas and what could be gained.

I choose Swansea because of the way the course was set up, the industry connections and the expertise the law school carried. On top of that I also looked at the number of attractions the city had, and I heard that the Welsh and Irish are very nice people (this has proven to be correct).

What is your favourite thing about your course?

The way the lecturers are approachable and open to help outside of the classroom. The mentoring was top tier.

What are you planning to do after you graduate?

Go back to Suriname and work with government. I am currently employed as head of personnel affairs at the ministry of sports. But with this new degree I am thinking of switching to the new ministry of Oil, Gas and environmental affairs.

Would you recommend Swansea University to other students? Why?

100%. I am already recommending it to other scholars. The student support Swansea offers is amazing.

If relevant, what facilities have you enjoyed using as part of your course and why?

Yes, the gym to let off some steam and the trips organized by Global.
